“Mioduszewski said he acts as the department’s public information officer and is the voice of the department for the media; others can speak on behalf of the department if he is unavailable. “It’s not uncommon,” he said. “As sheriff, that’s my responsibility. You need one voice for the department; typically it’s the sheriff or a public information officer.””

The best way to conceal the truth or to cover a lie is to be the only person with the information. Second best is to be in a position to threaten someone with their termination.

Who better than a police officer understands that conflicting versions of any particular story causes a trained investigator to actually get at the truth?

When their is only one version of a story being told, the truth can remain hidden and the story can be told any way the teller chooses regardless of it’s factual or fictional content.
